Some Kind of Wizardry

" Some Kind of Wizardry "

by Suzán Jiván

They're supposed to
but so seldom do
as strangely moving
with amazingly fake wings
obviously involved
in some kind of wizardry
in a spruce tree
rotating 180 degrees
while heaving and swaying
at the first stage
of experimental play
Ranging from the occasional
of note today holding babies
atop tables like latter-day
annunciations
as an oddly modern
paradox of found objects
Both brilliant and predictable
rich and inquisitive mixing
and matching abstractions
exactly as more animal than plant
with a sense of abandon...
